“Konkani Manyatha Diwas “Celebrating the pride of konkani at St Aloysius English medium school, Urwa

St. Aloysius English Medium School, Urwa, joyfully celebrated Konkani Manyatha Diwas on 26th August 2025 at Urwa Church Hall with great enthusiasm, showcasing immense love and respect towards the Konkani language.

The program was compered by students Rinshi Saldanha and Ancia Monterio, who carried forward the event gracefully. The gathering was warmly welcomed by our Headmaster Mr. Aloysius D’Souza, who also highlighted the importance of preserving and carrying forward the rich legacy of the Konkani language.

The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Micheal Lobo, was accorded a hearty welcome along with the dignitaries Mr. Felix Sequeira and Mr Loyed Lobo -Vice President of Urwa Parish, each of whom was presented with a potted plant as a token of respect. A meaningful prayer service followed by the lighting of the lamp set a serene and inspiring tone to the event.

The program, coordinated under the guidance of teachers Mrs. Lavina Correa, Tr. Vinita D’Costa, and Tr. Vishitha D’Souza, was a true reflection of cultural pride. Students presented a variety of performances including traditional Konkani dances, soulful singing, and melodious instrumental renditions of Konkani songs, each performance radiating their deep love for the language.

A special moment of the day was the felicitation of Mr. Felix Sequeira for his valuable contribution towards Konkani.

The Chief Guest, Fr. Micheal Lobo, in his address, inspired everyone with his heartfelt words and love for Konkani, encouraging the young generation to uphold the language with pride.

Student Freninta D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the celebration.

Headmaster Mr. Aloysius D’Souza appreciated the efforts of the staff and students who had put up such a vibrant and meaningful program and extended his thanks to all for making the day memorable. He thanked them with a flower.

The celebration concluded on a sweet note with payasam served to everyone, adding warmth and joy to the cultural festivity.

The Konkani Manyatha Diwas celebration at St. Aloysius English Medium School truly reflected the spirit of unity, cultural pride, and love towards the Konkani language.
