The Annual Sports Day for high school students from classes 6 to 10 was conducted on 21st December 2024 on the school grounds of St. Aloysius English Medium School, Urwa. The day was marked by an display of events that showcased the athletic skills, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship of the students.
The event began with a inauguration, graced by the School Headmaster, Mr. Aloysius D’Souza, who honored the march past with his presence. Students from all houses marched with discipline and synchronization, displaying their commitment and unity. The best march past squad was selected by a panel of judges comprising Teacher Roshni D’Souza, Sonia Saldanha, and Juliet Fernandes, who appreciated the effort and coordination of all participants.
The highlight of the day was the series of exciting competitions, including:
Cricket Matches: Teams competed with strategy and sportsmanship, providing thrilling moments for the spectators.
Tug of War: This engaging and energetic event was a favourite among students, with class wise participants showcasing their teamwork and strength.
The success of the sports day was largely due to the dedication and efforts of the Physical Education Teachers, Sir Pramod, Sudhakara, and Harinakshi. Their meticulous planning and commitment ensured a seamless and enjoyable event. The presence of teaching and non-teaching staff members further added to the day’s success, as they provided constant support and encouragement to the students.
Headmaster Aloysius D’Souza emphasized the importance of sports in fostering physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork. He encouraged students to continue participating in extracurricular activities alongside their academic pursuits, highlighting the role of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals.
Prizes were distributed to the winning teams, recognizing their dedication and achievement.
The event concluded on a sweet note with the distribution of candy to all students, spreading joy and bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. The emcee for the day, Teacher Rose D’Souza, ensured that the program flowed smoothly and kept the audience engaged throughout the day.
